1.	Britannica.com:  The granddaddy of encyclopedias provides a web search engine which you can use to find specific animals or subjects concerning animals, such as zebras or quarter horses(each has its own site). 

2.	Nationalgeographic.com:  Has most of the features of Britannica.com without the web search engine. 

3.	Smithsonian Institution - National Museum of Natural History:  The leading museum in the field has a quite good website.
